[Closed] Stage Manager
Summary of Role
This position is for the remount of CORPUS’ production La bulle. Rehearsals will be in Toronto and the tour will include dates in Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC, Ontario and Quebec throughout the summer of 2023. The Stage Manager provides practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers and technicians throughout the touring process (from rehearsals to post-show). They are the Artistic Director's representative during performances and ensure the production runs smoothly. The stage manager will work with an Assistant Stage manager, the Artistic Director and a solo performer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide artistic feedback during rehearsals and performances to Artistic Director
Liaise with all Festival technical directors prior to the tour to ensure technical rider has been received and answer any questions that arise.
Setting up the light and sound system and operate during rehearsals and performances
Oversee the entire show each time it is performed
Knowledge in Qlab and lighting
Daily diagnosis of the equipment before every performance. If needed, minor repairs.
Liaise with all performers and the technical support team & coordinate/communicate schedule
Managing the performance site and foreseeing the safety of “La bulle” in between performances
Run prop errands as needed
Set up and strike “La bulle”, props and costumes before-during-after rehearsals & performances and assist the ASM with resetting and tidying
Props & costumes repair if necessary
Provide accounting paperwork for all expenses (receipt + expenses recap), if applicable
Be mindful of the air pressure throughout the period of set up of “La bulle”
Making sure all the electronic / devices are off and out of reach for the next day.
Costume change help if necessary and ensure costume laundry
To be able to lift 50lbs
Bend, kneel and climb ladders if needed
If in different locations in Toronto:
Drive equipment to and from performance site
Load in/load out vehicle with set and luggage
Set-up shows
Supervise sets while performers get ready for shows
Liaison with festival artistic director / organizers during the tour and performers
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bilingual preferred (English / French)
Completed post-secondary training in theatre, theatre management, stage tech or a related field with at least one-year experience
Preferred Skills
Highly organized
Strong problem solver
Good understanding of technical demands of a production: lights, sound, props, set changes, make-up changes
Ability to work well under pressure and to multitask
Team player
Must have valid driving license
